Tips for Quilting with Decreased Vision!!!
I accidentally pooped the end of the spool off years ago!
I am massively struggling with panels. I cannot for the life of me get pieces square when I am trying to cut the pieces out. I have an Alphabet panel, every single letter is out of square.
I've been to the museum many times. That wood quilt is amazing! When I drove into town yesterday, I was soooo tired I didn't even stop at Hancocks. The back room is where most of my money goes - usually on trims for junk journals LOLThat is usually a must stop for me. I didn't wander the downtown art district (usually a must walk for me). Their BBQ on the river in September is a must see but if you plan to attend, book your room WAY in advance. Creative Blessings!
Kelly, What are trims for junk journals and what are junk journals? Sounds very interesting.
just ordered my pattern and will be anxious to get started on it. Thinking I may want mine a bit larger and might add some embroidered snowflakes after piecing ...
Sounds great!!! I’m so glad you are joining the challenge!!!
Hilarious. I love it!
They are fun to watch!!!
I have several mini charm packs. I love them to make small zipper bags. They are great for traveling or for makeup kits. Stuff some with candy for kids, or school supplies.
All great ideas!!!
When on your retreats do you play any quilting games?
Sometimes
I finished 4 blocks at a quilt retreat. I think I am going to really like it.
It is such a fun pattern!
I like watching Kris on Sew the Distance. I especially like seeing the old quilts. They sometimes remind me of quilts my grandmothers had.
Yes! She does a great job!
Can the Sta-flo be used in a spray bottle bottle? Still need to saturate?
Yes it can be used in a spray bottle. I saturate mine.
Love this pattern! I bought it back in 2020 and have had it in my (neverending!) queue since then. Fun idea for QAL.
Join us!!!
Going to try to get pattern and join along!
Great!!!
I purchased this pattern from Missouri Star. Emily at terriblyrad on UA-cam just completed her snowflake quilt in the scrappy version. Watching her made me want to make the scrappy version using my mom's leftover Christmas fabrics that were given to me.
Great idea!!!
Where do i get the snowflake pattern, please...thank you so very much...

I'm from Paducah! Glad you came!
We loved it!!!!
I loved this video! I just ordered one!! Thank you ❣️
You will love it!!!
Just recently I placed an order with Wawak sewing supplies for the first time, and was quite pleased with the selection, order process, accurate order and prompt delivery. Will use them again in the future for my quilting supplies.
I will have to check that out!
No I haven’t been there but I have wanting to go.have a blessed day.
I hope you will get to go one day!
PS: individual sellers on Etsy is a terrific resource for fabrics that are sold out elsewhere or really unique fabrics and panels.
Thanks for sharing! I have also found that to be true.
Yes, I online shop for fabric all the time! I have many different online fabric stores and get really good sales. I don’t buy fabric from Amazon because the ones I have bought are terrible quality.
Thanks for watching and sharing!
We just pulled into Paducah an hour ago. This is my 2nd visit. Last time was spur-of-the-moment and I only visited the Museum, no shops. But this time quilt shops are .on the list. Thanks for the tips.
Have fun!
Love your quilts! Thank you for your valuable experience, tips, & tricks! I agree wholeheartedly with having the air purifier - a must! Our lungs don’t need anymore pollutants.🫁 Happy Thursday🫶
Thank you Sandra!
I would love to have the ruler stand but I dont have a table top area to spare. Mine are all hanging on pegboard. I also have had bad luck with the suction magnetic pin holder. Ended up tossing it. You are so cute. Love your down to earth personality. ❤
After I filmed that video, mine has started popping off! I see what you mean!
I’ve made 10+ Rag Quilts and after the first one, I went to the laundromat to wash and dry mine. I would wash it twice and dry it 2 or 3 times. It became a lil pricey, but totally worth not ruining my washer/dryer. Oh, and I always told the attendant what I was doing and they would make sure it was cleaned.
Thanks for watching and sharing!
I want to edit to please use Color Catchers when using…it does make a difference🌸
Sorry I didn’t join this challenge. But your quilts are beautiful ❤❤❤
Thank you!
I got mine made. It is so snuggly! My cat thinks it's for him. 😆
Excellent!!! Congratulations!!!
I love rag quilts
Me too!
I really like the purple quilt top. Also, your shirt is so pretty. Will you share where you found the shirt?
I missed part of this also...I'll look back and make this one this winter.
Ragtime quilts are the most requested quilts from my family members!
I'm not sure how I missed this quilt a long. I will try as I have always wanted a rag quilt. Thanks for sharing!
You are most welcome! Thanks for watching!
I love to see quilt shops. Fun to see the uilts on display, how they display fabric etc
Yes indeed!
Very pretty!
Thank you! 😊
So much fuzz when using quality battings….warm and natural plush and warm 100….so much fuzz in the air.
Yes, I never really realized how much "stuff" comes off fabric! I don't want to inhale that any more!!
Soooo pretty! And they look soft and comfy too!
They are the most comfy quilts ever! Thank you!
Thx to you & the quilters. Creative & inspiring! 🤩💕
You are most welcome!
Grab lunch at Kirchoff’s downtown, not far from the quilt museum. Their bakery and deli are excellent.
Yes!!! We love the chess bars and we also ate at the deli!!!
The walnut cranberry bread is also incredible!!!
Love this !! Looks easy !! Thank u for sharing 💕
You are so welcome!
Getting quilty goodness packages makes my day! And I can tell you were very happy with your purchases, thanks for taking the time to show us all the goods! I just placed an online order with Keepsake Quilting. Keepsake was purchased by the family who owned Pineapple Fabrics, right here in my home state of NC so they're close by, and, they have open warehouse days too! Like many online stores they give promotional cash to spend on future purchases - that keeps me going back! :) I ordered 9 yds of a beautiful boysenberry colored solid, that was on sale for half off, to use with the 'Ring Cycles' quilt pattern I purchased earlier in the week from Etsy as a download. I've been thinking about making this quilt for a while, so I finally committed. I've always wanted to make an EPP quilt and Keepsake had Tula Pink's - 'Tula's Bloomers' pattern & papers set as well as the acrylic templates to cut the fabric shapes with - wish me luck, it's a big quilt! I LOVE the ruler rack you have - 'Doohiky' was my late mother's favorite word for anything she didn't know the word for! I will be ordering one tonight! I too love Woolies flannels, have used them for years and have a stash of them. They stay soft and their colors don't fade like some flannels I've used. The Fiskar's rag scissors are the best, I even bought a spare pair in case I lose/misplace one of them. Can one ever have enough CG rulers? Nope! LOL! Best around although I do have a couple of the Olfa brand non-slip rulers as well. Happy quilting! Kitty Ann >^,,^<
Ann I really enjoyed your comments!! Best of luck on your quilt!
I used to order quite a bit from keepsake quilting!
@@thesimplequilter7499 Keepsake was one of the first really large online quilting goods retailers that I can recall, I am happy they continue on in these perilous times for retailers.
@@thesimplequilter7499 I ordered a DooHikey ruler stand last night - aqua - although the red almost won! 😸The aqua will go better with the curtains in my room although they have some red in the print - maybe I should have gone with red! Either way, I'll be glad to have somewhere for my smaller rulers! Have a great week!🤗
@@anilovesmeemee enjoy!!
When I give a quilt I think will bleed I gift a box of color catchers with directions for when they wash it.
That is such a great idea! I used to put a color catcher in a card with instructions when I gifted a quilt; however, one is not enough. Gifting a entire box is a great idea!
Just booked a B&B for next year's quilt show. (Not the one I was looking at previously -- see my other comment -- but one that's a 5-minute walk because I'm not sure of the parking around the event.) But now I'm ready!!!!
Excellent!!! You will have so much fun!!! Enjoy!
I noticed that as quilting cotton has become more in demand it has gone up in price and down in quality. I have seen clothing quality decline too. I always prewash everything not just because of bleeding but because of all the chemicals they use on the fabrics. There are more chemicals used in fabrics and clothing these days. Anti fungal for shipping, pre-dye chemicals, finishing, sizing, dyes etc. Many chemicals are carcinogenic or can trigger allergies. Pre-washing is good for your health and those you give your creations to.
Thanks so much for sharing! Great points!
Great video! Easy to understand! Will use this method to make my quilt labels. I did purchase a Clover Hot Hemmer - works great! You can use 1" pieces of Stitch Witchery on top and sides under back of label, press with iron and it will hold label down on quilt back before sewing it down.
Great idea! Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi! I love love love flannel and woolies is my favorite. I have storage boxes full of them. The pewter is one I don't have so I will take care of that next 😂 the packaging of that ruler stand is over board but at least it's not plastic. My go to rulers just hang around on my sewing table the rest, not alot, stay in my drawer. Red is also my favorite color! I couldn't find most of what I now have in red so I have aqua my next favorite color.
Enjoy the pewter flannel!!! The same fabric comes in a cream with lines and it is wonderful!
Thank you do much for the detailed video. Very easy to follow. If you read this message couldnyou please let me know where to get the minnie mouse pattern? Thanks
It is in a book called "Quilts in a Jiffy" by Donna Robertson
That is a cool ruler storage!!
I agree!
I bought the red tool box from Harbor Freight that you told us about. I also got the extended magnetic wand and the magnetic dish for pins. Love them all. Thank you for telling us about them. God bless.
I am so glad you are enjoying those products!!!
@@thesimplequilter7499 I also got the magnetic hooks to hang my quilting rulers on the side of my red tool box.
I live in Paducah & have never been to the quilt museum. I’m going to make a point to go.
I think you will enjoy it!!!
It is free for McCracken County residents on Mondays. You will be amazed
I have the same ruler rack in red and I love it. I keep larger rulers in mine. It's heavy enough that it doesn't tip over. You will love it.Thanks for showing all your new goodies.
Thanks for sharing! The aqua is nice but red is my favorite color!!!
Thank you. Great ideas.
You are so welcome!
No shopping for quilting things, but you show some neat things to think about. I use bees wax for my EPP. I find that the thread still knots occasionally. I would like to know if anyone has compared the two products.😊 thanks again Michelle.
Maybe that will be a future video!
